Will England Do It This Time?
Posted by Admin in Uncategorized on September 7th, 2010
This is the first ever World cup in African soil and Brazil, Spain and Argentina are the favourites for many of them. Spain and Brazil are definitely one fo the contenders but not sure about the others and don’t ever count the Germans out. Spain and Brazil are great passing teams and from what I have seen so far I feel the pitch suits the passing team rather than the long ball team. When the ball in played forward as a long ball it just runs away from the players and they cannot control the ball.
England do have a passing game but I am not sure why they don’t play their normal game when they start playing. The problem England have is they get too defensive after they score a goal, there is no confidence in the team to go get another or just to keep the ball. After that they just look for long ball and expect someone to hold it. Long ball is looking highly unlikely in South Africa.
Argentina is also many people’s favourites but I just don’t feel they have the defence of 1986 or even 1990. But they do have the best player in the World Lionel Messi in their side. In the first game against Nigeria he was brilliant shame he didn’t score a goal because the Keeper of Nigeria made some brilliant saves. If Argentina can put a team around him like they did in 1986 when Maradona was the main man, they were absolutely brilliant. Who know what can happen?
I am a amateur online poker player and for the World cup I have given playing poker till the tournament lasts and back England. In the past I have won few full tilt poker & PKR poker tournaments so I am a poker addict but for this tournament I will give it all up.

Christmas For Robert Green

Despite being Scottish, i do find myself supporting England when it comes to the World Cup. But 2010 has already proved a difficult year, even for an arm’s-length England fan. The warm up matches before the World Cup saw a fairly lucky win over Mexico (who dominated the game for the most part), followed by a even luckier win against the Japanese. There is always something else to talk about, other than football, when the World Cup rolls around. Perhaps there’s a beer shortage, or maybe some of the ever-present yobs and hooligans are causing trouble…the stadiums might even be less than full.. This time it’s the matter of a traditional South African noise maker that emits an ear-busting sound. Read the rest of this entry »
