Christmas For Robert Green

Despite being Scottish, i do find myself supporting England when it comes to the World Cup. But 2010 has already proved a difficult year, even for an arm’s-length England fan. The warm up matches before the World Cup saw a fairly lucky win over Mexico (who dominated the game for the most part), followed by a even luckier win against the Japanese.

The arrival in South Africa didn’t go according to plan either with a decidedly average display against those giants of world football, the Americans. The man who got the most punishment for the USA result (and probably rightly so), was Robert Green, who’s failure to collect a poor shot from outside the box resulted in America’s equaliser.

It would be fair to say it was a calamitous mistake and will no doubt have upset the man himself. If you were a member of his family, now would be a good time to send him a gift the cheer the poor guy up. If England are to progress in the tournament with Robert Green between the sticks, he’ll need his teammates and the fans to give him their full support. Ideally, we need the gifts for him, so perhaps a giant inflatable ball … you know, for training purposes. This way Rooney could smash the ball at him all day and not even Green will be dropping the ball. He should also come out with some reasonably impressive saves, so hopefully it’ll restore his confidence a little.

Maybe he would enjoy having a few tactical lessons utilising the Tabletop Football game (instead of those other toys ), and you can take the keepers away too, just so Green can see how England fans felt watching England vs. America. If we’re even smarter about the whole thing, we could try convinving the ref that the Kickster Goal Pro 2000 is actually a standard sized set of goalposts .. mind you then England wouldn’t be able to score until the goal was in Row Z.
